For this project I decided to create an interview segment of people answering the question what Gamma Phi Beta’s philanthropy means to you. This project idea relates to my course topic because my course topic is my sorority’s philanthropy. I decided to do this because I wanted the audience to hear from other people what this philanthropy means to them and how it has impacted them. I was inspired by listening to other radio show interviewees and from this week’s readings interview examples. The significance of the elements of my design are my interview show trustworthiness because they all say similar things about how it’s impacted them in a positive way in their life.
My design process was first I recorded the answers from my peers using the voice recorder on my phone. Then I went into Audition and trimmed each of them down cutting out the beginning and end pauses and any pauses or “uh or ums” in between. I also had to adjust the sound level of some of the voices because my interviewees got quiet at some points while I was interviewing them. I then put them in a order that seemed to flow well and have a significant change of tone. Lastly, I added background music and I used the tools to have it fad in, fad out, and quiet enough so it would not overpower the interview voices. I collected the elements in my project by using music from last week’s counting tutorial and by asking three members of my sorority to answer my question. I asked our chapter president about our philanthropy because she is very involved and passionate about it. I also asked one of my good friends Delaney because she is very supportive of our philanthropy. Lastly, I interviewed my friend Dakota because she is also passionate about our philanthropy and has seen how it impacted her teammates from row in the past. Overall, I feel happy about how my audio story draft turned out.
